Constant Readers: here is an LOL from (Not SFist) Jeremy who wrote that the guy on the right is Matt Smith. Now, I personally don't know whether the characterization here is accurate (didn't read Matt's coverage of the Progressive Convention) but I can't resist a good LOL. [UPDATE: see Jeremy's Comment] So, I have decided to post this one and whatever other LOLs of local interest y'all send in. By the way, there is a good LOL builder at this site. Thank you, (Not SFist) Jeremy!

Here's Matt Smith's column from the week before the convention:

Oddly, he didn't write about it afterwards, despite attending the whole thing and filming and interviewing practically everyone there.
It's kind of a strange column. Parts of it are interesting journalism about the respect Chris Daly has earned from developers and SPUR, and how Randy Shaw's Tenderloin Housing Clinic stands to gain from a Newsom re-election. But interspersed with that are wild accusations about what's wrong with SF Progressives.
Smith writes things like "token genuflection is what S.F. progressivism most loves" and "The city's self-named progressives are similarly hamstrung in coming up with solutions to city problems." Which ignores the fact that Progressives have been moving their agenda through the Board of Supervisors for years, delivering on things like affordable housing, the Health Access Plan, police foot patrols, the plastic bag ban, the styrofoam take-out container ban, etc.
The strangest part is where he tries to associate David Heller's quixotic crusade against Bus Rapid Transit on Geary with the Progressive movement. Despite the fact that only person or organization who seems to agree with Heller is the progressive-hating Rob Anderson:

You can pretty much count on Matt to have a heavy dose of attitude, and remain light on the facts when it comes to SF politics. The Weekly has never really had much to say about SF local affairs if only because they simply don't care to cover most things going on around town that aren't music related.
