Constant Readers,
As I sit here in the press pit (where bloggers are - shockingly - permitted to mingle with "real" press) I am taking a moment to write about one of yesterday's events.
I arrived at registration and was told that I would not, in fact, be Kamala's proxy. I was SO dejected. Was it because I was wearing flip-flops? I offered to change my shoes but was told that some eager security guy had picked up Kamala's credentials. Why? Because she was here! But why? Didn't she trust me to represent her properly? I ended up being the proxy of some person named Erin. But resolved to take this up with my deleganger if given the chance.
And, sure enough, right after I wrote the post about Migden, I ran into Luke who said that he had just taken a picture of Kamala. OMG! I need to talk to her! So, Luke offered to take a picture of Kamala and I together. I resolved to be cool and not let on how badly I had wanted to be her stand-in. But that plan unraveled when I saw her in all her exquisite-ness. I blurted out like a hurt child, "I was supposed to be your proxy!"
And then she did the coolest thing ever.
She held my hand and said, "Oh, no! I really want you to be my proxy."
She dispatched the cheerful and patient Connie to help me and soon I was strutting around flashing my Kamala credentials like an FBI agent. "I'm Kamala Harris and Ima need you to surrender those Skittles." Note: I learned that it does NOT entitle the holder to the throngs of admirers or the devotion of a grateful public.
That is reserved for the real Kamala.
But it was fun to try.

My stupid delegate card just said some loser named Brian who wasn't even in Mark's senate district. I wish I could have been somebody cool like, say, Dennis Herrera. Except not Dennis Herrera, because, frankly, he's no Kamala.
