Constant Readers,
I am having the best day ever! Not only did I get to write about sex toys at public meetings earlier, but this is my 100th post! Yaay!!
And to top it all off: I am going to the California Democratic Convention this weekend! (Where I hope to learn what a "convention" is.) I have a pass as a blogger (which means I'll be in the wifi pen with the other Uber-Nerds) but I am also a "proxy delegate" for someone too cool to attend.
Guess who I am the proxy for?
San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris.
I couldn't be more excited and afraid.
I mean, no matter what your politics are, you cannot deny that Kamala is gorgeous, articulate and the best dressed politician in this town since Willie Brown. How the hell do I fill those (expensive and marvelous) shoes?
I mean, I had planned on wearing a t-shirt that says "You say 'tomato', I say 'fuck you.'"
So, I searched my closet for a Kamala-worthy outfit that communicates: "I am fabulous, but if you mess with me, I can have your ass locked up with the kind of men who don't cuddle afterwards."
I did the best I could. But I still feel like my sweater set will just say: "I am unremarkable, and if you mess with me, my sole recourse is to write snarky things about you on my website."
Sartorial anxiety aside, when it comes to convention hijinks/after-parties/excess with other attendees like my friends from Calitics and Fog City Journal and my BFF Beth Spotswood, I know I can do just as good a job as Kamala.
Maybe even better.

PS - I'll be posting about the convention this weekend from San Jose, a place that my friend Jen described best when she said, "It could be cool. But it won't be."

Can't wait to read the posts from the pen...Kamala doesn't hold a candle to you...

Funny you'd mention Kamala Harris and Willie Brown in the same breath!

Kamala Harris came and spoke to us when I worked at MoFo... she was super-impressive and dynamic and I have no jokes to make about her.

At least you didn't have to have sex with Willie Brown like poor Kamala.
