Constant Readers,
As you know, I try to keep it light here on Fridays. This has been a helluva week. Sunday was the Brians' wedding. It was just beautiful to see these two amazing, loving men making a public commitment to one another. There was a great guest list, too. I met Scott Wiener, Alix Rosenthal, Steven Jones (Happy Birthday, Steven!), David Dayen and Robert in Monterey. Nothing like meeting new people and then having them see you bawling minutes later like a...well, like a chick at a wedding. Luke Klipp accused me of looking like The Joker when I asked him if my makeup had run. (Vengeance will be mine.)
On Monday, I spoke to the wonderful folks at the Middle Polk Neighborhood Association about various ballot propositions. They asked great questions and I dare say we even had some fun. I'll be at their October meeting talking about other propositions. Why me? And not someone who is "qualified"? Or, you know, "in government"? Because, like y'all, I want what's best for this City that I love. And I agree that this stuff is confusing. Only, unlike y'all, I have no life and spend my Saturday nights at the Union Square Borders researching ballot propositions while Frank Chu snores loudly at the table next to me. (I swear, I'm not making that up.) And I'm almost as funny as Aaron Peskin. And I bring colorful handouts.
Anyway, last night I recorded another session of News and Booze for SF Weekly. I'm really loving my Thursday nights drinking beer and talking politics with Benjamin Wachs, Joe Eskenazi and Paul Hogarth. If you can tolerate my incessant giggling (right after beer #1) you should give it a listen.
Monday, at 5 pm, I'll be on the KALW (91.7 FM) daily local news magazine. Sans beer. What will I be talking about? Let's just say it ain't cooking or physical fitness.
Okay, on with the videos:
I may be the only person in this City who had not seen the Milk movie trailer. I'm putting it here anyway so my Mom can watch it.
I don't know how wise it is to have the Tax Man endorse your candidacy, but D11 candidate Asha Safai did it anyway.
And it really wouldn't be a Friday video collection without one from the strangely committed citizen who is mad at District 4 incumbent candidate Carmen Chu.
In non-political videos, I have two for ya:
This one really requires no explanation. Just watch the right-hand side of the screen. But put down any beverages first.
It is a well-known fact that I love puppies. A lot. More than is normal or healthy for a 30-year-old whose apartment building doesn't allow pets. But I have to believe Sophia's Escape is something even non-obsessed people will enjoy...
Have a great weekend, y'all!! You know where I'll be on Saturday night...
