I've been in Los Angeles for almost a week now, first for a wedding and then New Year's Eve. My friends and I are in this cool beach house and have been having the best time! But even as I sit on the deck looking out onto the ocean, wishing I owned a bathing suit, I'm thinking of my CR's - here are some videos to help you with that hangover.
I haven't put up a Red State Update for a while, but thought this one was interesting. I've been having some intense discussions recently about Obama pick of Rick Warren to speak at the inauguration. Here's what the hillbillys have to say:
Speaking of Obama, even Republicans are denouncing the "Barack the Magic Negro" song distributed by Chips Saltsman. You'd think some sensitivity would be in order, but ...watch the bottom of the screen from a New Year's Eve broadcast...
And speaking of New Year's Eve broadcasts, here's a clip from the CNN special hosted by Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper. And, yes, the class she displays at the end makes me proud that we share a last name.
And speaking of classy broads, how great is it that Fran Drescher wants to take over Hillary's seat in the Senate? In this video, the folks from 23/6 have some fun with a recent interview Drescher did on Fox.
I'm sure I'm not the only one whose main hope for 2009 is that we don't suffer a financial apocalypse. As we all hunker down and prepare for the worst, this video reminds us that even terrorists must be feeling the pinch.

I was working New Years Eve and I watched that Kathy Griffin broadcast in it's entirety (West Coast tape delay minus the word "dick".) She was consistently hilarious for the whole three hours.
And Melissa, I think your vacation house-mates would PREFER that you not have a suit to swim in.

I should mention that the CNN NYE broadcast was also notable in that it kept cutting to a drag queen party in Key West.

Oh crap on a crap cracker you link to me now! You're a real grown up human being! A smart one! Like the kind I want to be someday. This is exciting and very unexpected. Anyways, thanks. And forget a swimsuit, practice swimming in all of your clothes. That way, if you ever need to escape from somewhere you'll be ready. I would say "that's what I would do" except I've already done it. Gotta be ready to jam.
