I went down to City Hall yesterday to watch the hearing on Supervisor Campos' sanctuary city ordinance. The place was packed, with a number of people in the overflow room in the North Light Court. I'll be writing more about it for Thursday, but, the hearing went on for 3.5 hours - and even a patient dork like me got distracted. I was reading my horoscope on NYPost.com when I heard a familiar voice.
It was Frank Chu. Mr. 12 Galaxies himself had come to give public testimony - which happens only about once a year, far as I can tell. Here's what he had to say:
Yes, my name is Frank Chu and I volunteered to speak today. I had a chance to talk to channel 29 outside. They were here for the 3 channel 29 outside. They were here for the immigration hearing and I was able to tell them something about the immigration. I told them that I think the White House was involved with some populations and involved with some discrimination and discriminating against some of those immigration rights, too. Thank you.

Well, he's certainly more lucid, informed and to the point than many of the members of congress!
I would urge him to run Feinstein's seat if I wasn't always looking forward to his latest revelation.

You just got to be kidding!!!! What is happening to this country? ... I am not even talking about the merit of the arguments in favor or against the sanctuary ordinance ... Where are the capable people that can articulate clear, direct and intelligent arguments? Has everyone decided to become bloggers instead of running for office?

Mel:
I know "Chu" is kind of an attraction in San Francisco but I find it amazing that at a meeting such as the one you attended the "horoscope" and "Chu" are the only highlights worth commenting.
I don't know; maybe I am just edgy with everything that is going on in the country, or, maybe I should just relax and enjoy my depression.

@Mousqueton - In this piece, I wrote "I'll be writing more about [the hearing] for Thursday" and I did. In fact, I wrote the second of two long pieces about the substance of the sanctuary city issue on that Thursday.
Politics is fun, my dear. And seeing Franck Chu speak at after three hours of testimony was more than enough to make my day. I don't believe every post has to be a downer.
