Constant Readers,
I haven't put up videos in awhile, but this is so amazing that I MUST share it with you. (Hat tip to Mad Dog for sending this to me.) It's two videos, really. Watch the first - it's not long. You need to see it to understand the (truly incredible) second one.
It is Friday afternoon, people. Don't act like you got something better to do!
You with me?
Here's the first:
Now, put down your drink because every sentence this man utters is better than the one before it. Promise me you'll watch until the end...
Judging by the comments on the KRON site folks are about to make this guy the Mayor of Oakland. I doubt he'll ever pay for his own beer again.
Have a great weekend!

The videos you posted don't even show up on this page. I think it might be my browser. Is there some other way I can see them? I saw a youtube video of an old white guy beating up a black guy but I couldn't really hear what they were saying.

I'm a big believer in the rule of law as an imperative to a functioning society. There are, however, times when the range of punitive measures available under the law simply don't adequately address the nature of the offense. When someone is simply an asshole, that falls somewhere in the cracks of what the justic system can mete out -- imprisonment is too harsh, petty fines and probation and restitution simply don't carry any weight as deterrents, and any other potential remedy fails to address the correlation.
In those situations, where behavior is at the margins between criminality and simply bad taste, I love watching how society evolves its own system of meting out punishment.
Or, in other words, sometimes the best thing we can do is to stand back and allow a good ole' fashioned ass-whoopin' from a 67-year-old vet, join with the Greek chorus to ensure recipient of said ass-whoopin' feels proper public humiliation and shame, then carry on with our lives. It's a win-win for all. Public vindication? Check. Re-affirm social behaviors? Check. Saving the already overtaxed justice system yet another admin headache? Check. Adequate deterrent? Probably not, but no worse than what would otherwise be available.
